I think helping them to identify their emotions (ex. asking if they are feeling sad or mad instead of asking how they feel) and looking for ways to comfort them (ex. asking if they want a hug) before helping them find a solution.

I do my best to take care of my mental health. I make sure I have a good support system, I do activities for self-care, regularly take my meds, and stay in touch with my psychiatrist and therapist.

I found that taking time to do something for me after work nd reminding myself that I am not just a teacher, but a person as well. One thing I like to do is hang out with my friends. This helps me feel more human and not just a teacher.

I would encourage them to get to know every child and making sure they feel heard when they talk to their provider.

Written guidance policies are important so families and staff can see them. For families, it helps them know what policies are implemented so they know how to keep their children and other children safe. Both new and old staff benefit from this as well, being able to review policies if and when questions arise.

Having a clean and clear classroom so it’s walkable and toys that utilizes gross motor skills. Also conducting activities that promote physical activity like dancing.

Introduce new ways to take care of themselves, and teaching them that a healthy bodies helps us play and make friends.

I would highlight how accessible our classrooms and playgrounds are, first aid kits, and emergency exits. I would also highlight our storing system and things like how we prep food.

If I suspected child abuse, I would tell my advisor and report it.

My biggest worry is children ingesting things that they cannot eat.

My advice for creating and maintaining a good partnership is a welcoming environment and constant communication. Make sure that you are there to support not only their child but them as well. With communication, it’s not just about sending them updates throughout the day, it also involves talking with them during drop off and pick up.

I think the 3 things I want most from a childcare provider is cultural awareness, empathy, and communication.

Introducing new and fun ways to complete an activity. For example, doing different art projects with different ways to do art instead of the same thing every time.

I think having the schedule written out and including pictures of the actions helps children by giving them a visual guide. Another tip is to be consistent and do the same activities and/or at the same time to help children learn to what expect after one activity.

I think having a developmentally appropriate environment and toys are important for a good early learning. Also allowing free play is essential for encouraging development.

A good way to approach a parent about a developmental screening is reassuring them that a screening doesn’t mean anything bad, it just means their child may need extra support.

In order to create a “serve and return” environment in our classrooms, we need to respond to actions with appropriate and consequential responses. For example, if a child helps you clean up toys, you respond with “Thank you for helping me! Now our classroom is clean and we have more space to play in.”.
