One safety feature I would want to point out would be our cleaning procedures and anything we do to keep children safe, including medicine out of reach.

  • creative and fun new games or playing with the children are great ways to get kids engaged

  • When we are able to observe a child’s growth and learning, we are able to cater more to their special needs that they might have or things that they might be struggling on in order to help them improve

These both talk about our value of other cultures and diversity, making sure that we are including things in education and keeping open communication with programs and families.

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? It was very interesting to see all the record keeping that is required for all the different things. I did not expect some records to be kept for as long as they were, like lead paint tests.
    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? I was suprised to read in WAC 110-300-0356 A child with special needs who requires individualized super- vision pursuant to WAC 110-300-0300 does not count in the staff-to- child ratio.
    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? Yes, All of the WAC’s help influence how we interact with children every day. What is and is not allowed or professional.
