When making a daily schedule you should have some same things like readings and meals at the same times everyday, but also have something that happens weekly on mondays and it changes every day of the week, and then having free time is important, and then having an activity that is either child lead or picked by the kids via vote or by an individual everyday.

I think it’s important to have a room with a good flow and areas for loud play, quiet play, eating, and open space for reading and group activities

Think about what you’re going to say beforehand and possibly script out key points you want to hit, being careful and caring are really important when talking to parents and keeping your tone in check is important too so the parent doesn’t get upset or feel like you don’t care.

How does observing and documenting a child’s development help early learning providers?
Observing and documenting a child’s development could help a early learning provider keep track of things kids are having issues with, whether it be a one time or continuous issue, if the issue continues than the provider can help the child learn or talk to a parent and spot a potential bigger issue.

Screen time in child care I think should be turned into music and dance, or something more creative and brain engaging.

Have a meeting with the parent about how frequently they are 20 minutes late to picking up their kid and how it could effect the child being the last one out of the care center, and how long 20 minutes could feel for a child who might be feeling left out.

According to WAC 100-300-0160, the teacher must provide a diverse and culturally appropriate space and activities for all children, which would entail communicating with parents and children about their cultures and values ahead of time and being aware of sensitivities to avoid based off of what the teacher knows about each student.

None of the WACs were surprising, child safety having a lot of rules makes a lot of sense, and all of the rules that were given all made sense, the only thing I thought was surprising was that 14 year olds can work at care centers as aids. For me I didn’t really think of younger children as fragile and susceptible to the world as they really are, I haven’t interacted with young children for long periods of time before and reading all of the WACs it makes sense how many regulations kids have, but it’s also eye opening for how I should be treating kids.
