It is important to prepare for the fact that things may not always go according to plan based on the children’s mood that day. It is important to create a base schedule that is able to be moved around when needed, while still keeping the main components you want to do. For example needing to switch the times you do art and sensory, but still having the time to do both during the day.

I think that an important component is to have a personalized space, even if it is just a cubby, for only them so they feel included and safe knowing they have their own area. This allows a child to know that they always have a place to come back to that is theirs, which helps when children are learning to share.

I think it is also good to lead the conversation with the good things that the child is doing so the parent doesn’t feel like you are only focusing on the negative. Providing support after explaining what you have observed is also important because the parents won’t feel as if they are having to navigate the issues alone.

Without observation, the provider would not know whether or not the children are benefiting from the activities and lessons. Without documentation there would also be no way to tell whether a child has grown from when they started the program, and thus no knowledge of milestones within the facility.

I think that in daycare screen time isn’t necessary as it doesn’t help the children create positive social interactions. This could be replaced by other activities including music, art, and dramatic play. While I understand that there could be educational benefits to a child using screens, I think it should be monitored by the child’s parents instead, as they are better able to have the one on one time needed to monitor what a child sees and how they react to what they see.

Early learning providers can serve and return by keeping track of each child’s interests, and how they change. This then allows the provider to show an active support for a child’s interest with the implementation of activities connected to the children’s interests. As their interest’s change the providers are able to respond accordingly so that the child continues feeling heard and seen when expressing their likes and dislikes.

I understand the importance of WACs in regards to the safety it provides not only to the children within the childcare facility, but also to the employees who provide care to the children. There are practices we are taught to carry out within our facility that come from the WAC licensing such as drills we do in case of emergencies and safe sleeping practices. These things are key factors in providing the best care possible for children and their parents, and without knowing these WACs there would be many problems that arise
