  • These are some tips i think are effective.Keep the schedule simple and consistent. Use pictures or charts to help children understand.Include time for play, meals, rest, learning, and outdoor activities.Be flexible. Children may need extra time for some activities.Prepare children for changes by giving them warnings before switching tasks.

  • Here are some effective ways to tell parents in my view. Your child is doing well in many areas and gave some specifics with examples. We do screenings to check how children grow and learn. I noticed your child might need some extra support. The screening helps us understand how to help your child better.

  • Observing and documenting a child’s development helps early learning providers see the child’s progress and needs. It guides them to customize plan activities and support that match each child’s growth and learning.

Screen time for children in childcare should be very limited. Young children learn best through play, talking, and hands-on activities, not by watching screens. When screens are used, they should be short, educational, and supervised by adults to help children understand what they see. Too much screen time can slow down learning and social skills.

Early learning providers can create a “serve and return” environment by paying close attention to children’s sounds, gestures, and actions, then responding with smiles, words, and actions that match what the child is trying to communicate. They can encourage back-and-forth interactions by asking questions, showing interest, and giving children time to respond. This helps build strong relationships and supports children’s brain development.

  • If parents are late to pick up their child, stay calm and kind. You can gently remind Mrs. Hopkins about the center’s closing time and ask if she needs any help. It is good to talk with her privately to understand why she is late and find a solution together to keep the child safe and happy while ensuring your concerns are addressed in a healthy environment. Seek supervisor or colleagues help as needed.

The WACs say teachers should respect all families and their different cultures and languages. Teachers need to work with families, listen to them and often showing interest to learn more about what kids like to do outside school will help greatly. Everyone should feel welcome and included. This helps children learn better and families feel happy.

  • I learned that the WACs have a lot of rules to help keep children safe and healthy in child care. They cover everything from staff training to making sure the place is clean and safe for the kids.

I wasn’t really surprised, but I didn’t realize there were so many rules about things like recordkeeping and staff qualifications. It shows how important it is to do everything right for the kids.

Yes, I think the WACs will affect how I care for the children because they tell me exactly what I need to do to keep the kids safe and make sure the center runs well. They also remind me to keep learning and stay updated on the rules.
