I think a component that is important is everything is in its own place for each station of work area for the kids. So, the art center, and the puzzles are going to be in its own space to not get things mixed up but also so when the kids come in, they can choose where they want to go unless there’s something else planned first.

Then figuring out what words would be best do describe what happened and use more objective words and not subjective words. Then when speaking with the parent say the good things that happened first then lead to any negative or possible things to work on after.

This also gives the provider the information of the child’s temperaments which gives the providers more information on how they can help and work with the child better.

I think screen time shouldn’t be available all the time to children. The reason is because when the children are not on the screen they are allowed to socialize better and be able to learn certain signals that other children may do, which enables the kids to recognize it and be able to grow from it. But no screen time allows the child to grow in their motor, physically, mental, and emotional skills.

I think providers can make a “serve and return” environment by attending to the infants needs and allowing the baby to understand even little that the provider is there and will provide. Another thing the provider could do is remember what they baby may need at certain time and what certain things the baby does mean so that the provider can quickly and effectively help.

I would also let them know that although the twenty minutes may not seem like long but for the child it could seem like a very long time and could affect the child because of it.

WACs big messages about diversity and collaboration are that regardless of race or any differences, everyone should be working together to better help the child in their learning and their development as they grow.

MemberJune 18, 2025 at 3:09 am in reply to: Understanding the Impact of WAC on Early Childhood EducationI discovered that there are more in-depth things than someone might expect to see when first reading the WACs. I was a bit surprised about how there is a difference between the ratio of child to staff when working in a private home or house is different than working in a site or at one of the primary buildings. I can see that the WACs will influence my day-to-day practice in caring for children because even as simple as letting a child get some water or go to the restroom I will still need to be in view of others or even have someone assist me when taking a child.
