I find that talking to the child about what they’re feeling helps loads. In my program we keep plenty of books in our “cozy corner” (where kids can calm down during a tantrum) about emotions. We also keep dolls with emotional expressions and labels for the kids to help them recognize what their emotions look like.

I make sure to take time to myself on days off and do things that make me feel good. whether that be going on a hike or sitting in bed and watching tv.

I would show them the toys, centers, and activities we have first. Show the parents where the first aid is and explain procedures like hand washing and sanitation of the classroom.

If I suspected child abuse or neglect I would first ask for a second opinion from my supervisor and/or other teachers that work with the same child. After that I would report it to make sure the right steps are taken.

My biggest worry when it comes to keeping children safe are things like school shootings or mistreatment outside of the daycare.

Provide clear and open communication. Make sure you clearly state your concern and find a solution everyone agrees with.

The three most important things I would want from my childs provider is to protect my child, accept my child, and help/support my child. The fear I would have would be mistreatment of my child, judgement/bullying of my child, and incorrect care for my child.

my biggest thing is make learning fun and engaging. Make sure you can tie in an activity or even a fun song when learning something new so it is easier and more enjoyable for the children to learn and retain that information.

make sure meals and activities are at the same time every day. children need consistency, such as knowing that they will go outside after their snack or that nap time is after lunch etc.

nurturing, happy, safe, and fun.

go into the conversation positively and focus on the whole picture not just negatives. make sure you’re emphasizing the help that this could be for the child parent and caregiver.

documenting a Childs development helps caregivers by showing the progress they have made or progress that still needs to be made. this can help caregivers decide how they want to approach with help.

young children should have very little to no screen time.

when a child points or gestures to something you can say the name of it and/or the sound t makes which helps develop the child’s vocabulary and makes connections in the Childs brain.

I would explain to the parents that if they are going to be a few minutes late they need to give a warning to me and remind the parents that it is my time aswell. I understand we are all busy but we need to respect the set closing time and respect my personal time.

It didn’t really surprise me. The rules make sense especially focusing on safety standards, health practices, and emergency procedures since these are key for ensuring child and staff safety on a daily basis.
