I think helping them to identify their emotions (ex. asking if they are feeling sad or mad instead of asking how they feel) and looking for ways to comfort them (ex. asking if they want a hug) before helping them find a solution.

One thing I like to do is hang out with my friends. This helps me feel more human and not just a teacher.

I would encourage them to get to know every child and making sure they feel heard when they talk to their provider.

For families, it helps them know what policies are implemented so they know how to keep their children and other children safe. Both new and old staff benefit from this as well, being able to review policies if and when questions arise.

My advice for creating and maintaining a good partnership is a welcoming environment and constant communication. Make sure that you are there to support not only their child but them as well. With communication, it’s not just about sending them updates throughout the day, it also involves talking with them during drop off and pick up.
