My biggest worry keeping children safe aside from any type of physical violence is also emotional damage or trauma inducing events. I think children’s mental health no matter the age is extremely important and caregivers being aware of any major changes within their direct household “world” can be very upsetting to children and is not acknowledged enough

I think one of the most important steps is to be honest with positivity and remember to be understanding and empathetic. Their child is the most prized possession and many parents can easily become offensive in difficult conversations so coming from a place of empathy and understanding often helps to handle these difficult conversations.

The three most important things I would want from my provider would be nurturing environment that aligns with my child’s needs and my own beliefs, qualified staff with enthusiasm and positive attitudes, and deep knowledge of child development.

  • I feel the most important step in all of this is teacher implementation. Having a teacher who is excited to play and learn alongside the children makes all the difference in the world. Asking open ended questions to encourage their critical thinking skills and provide scaffolding to solve problems as they arise.

Its also important to keep in mind the types of activities to put together, example not having a ton of quiet, sitting activities all together but adding in movement activities to give the children breaks to get their wiggles out.
