one tip from me would be, Keep the schedule flexible: While it’s important to establish a routine, it’s also important to be flexible and adapt the schedule as needed based on your child’s changing needs and interests.

some good components that i think are important are

    1. Safe and healthy environment: The environment should be physically safe and healthy, with appropriate safety measures in place and regular cleaning and disinfection.

    2. Responsive and nurturing interactions: Early learning providers should engage in responsive and nurturing interactions with children, building positive relationships and providing emotional support.

    3. Play-based learning: Play is a crucial part of early learning, and a good early learning environment should provide ample opportunities for children to engage in age-appropriate play-based learning activities.

  • When approaching a parent about the developmental screening of their child, it is important to be sensitive and supportive here are some ways i would approach the conversation:

    1. Start by expressing your concern for the child’s well-being and development.
    2. Explain what developmental screening is and why it is important.
    3. Emphasize that screening is a routine part of healthcare and that it is not meant to imply that there is a problem with the child.
    4. Address any questions or concerns the parent may have and be prepared to provide information about the screening process and what it entails.
    5. Encourage the parent to participate in the screening process and to ask any questions they may have.
    6. Emphasize that early detection and intervention can have a positive impact on a child’s development and future outcomes.
    7. Offer resources and support to the parent, such as information about community services or referrals to specialists if needed.
  • Observing and documenting a child’s development helps early learning providers in several ways. By closely observing a child’s behaviors, interests, and progress, providers can gain insight into the child’s individual strengths and challenges. This information can then be used to inform instructional strategies, curriculum planning, and individualized support for the child. Documentation of a child’s development also provides a way to track progress over time, identify areas where further support may be needed, and communicate with families about the child’s development. Overall, observing and documenting a child’s development helps early learning providers to create a more effective and supportive learning environment that meets the unique needs of each child.

n this situation, I would check in with the parent to acknowledge the late pick-ups and explain how this affects the child and there school day then I would try to see if there is anything I can do to support change in this situation and or if there is a aftercare program for the child to be involved in.

    • WAC 110-300-0100 and WAC 110-300-0200 address diversity and equity.
    • WAC 110-300-0110, WAC 110-300-0200, WAC 110-300-0210, and WAC 110-300-0230 address collaboration with families

and one of big messages that the WACs give regarding diversity and collaboration are, early learning programs should promote and celebrate diversity and respect for cultural and individual differences.

  • I discovered that each WAC is very in-depth and actually very easy to read and understand. I was surprised by how many long regulations would need to be achieved before being licensed it gave me a really good look in the process and the things that needs to be accomplished. Also I can see how WAC’s will influence my day-to-day practices and caring for children because the WAC in-depth let’s me know the process in which things need to be done like with toileting it is an everyday thing that needs to be done but the WAC lets me know how that process should be handled.
