Some examples of responsive exchanges are active listening and acknowledgement and expanding on what a child says. Then asking some open ended questions. All this makes a child feel seen and heard and make a lasting difference.

To build connections to children in the classroom you need to be present and attentive, get down to their level and give them your full attention. Showing genuine intreat in each child, remember the little things and ask them questions about their interests. You can also listen and validate their feelings, acknowledge their emotions and be patient with big emotions.

My biggest worry would be how my child is being treated by the students and the caregivers.

Maintaining a good partnership between caregivers, parents, and childcare providers is essential for supporting a child’s development so it’s important to practice open and honest communication. Build trust and mutual respect and always share information about their child’s development.
