My biggest worry about keeping children healthy and safe would be bullying, mental and emotional health, and making sure they are having all the nutrients they need and eating enough to grow strong and be healthy.

Some advice for creating and maintaining a good partnership between caregivers/parents and childcare providers would be to communicate often. Let them know what their child has been doing and learning. Be respectful, professional, and understanding.

I would want my child’s provider to be kind and gentle to my child. I’d also want them to teach them to be the same with others.

Fears I would have leaving my child in someone else’s care are that they would be harmed or neglected. Also, that they aren’t feeling welcome or are bullied by other children.

  • Creative ways to get children engaged in active meaningful learning would be to first let the kids get to know each other so that they can be more comfortable around each other. Next would be to ask them what they enjoy doing, for example if a child enjoys painting you can get them to paint and ask them what they are painting or suggest them an item or object to paint. You could also teach them what colors can be mixed to make another and teach them about primary colors.

When creating a daily schedule, you should keep it simple so its not confusing on the kids but also make it fun and interesting by letting them participate in choosing what they do.

Components of a good learning environment are a clean and neat class, and easy to reach objects. Daily routines, adult child relationships, and a positive, and safe atmosphere.

  • Some good ways to approach a parent about the developmental screening of their child would be to rehearse what you are going to say to a coworker, and when it is time to talk to the parent, it would be best to start talking about the positive things about the child and then move onto concerns, and to make sure to share your observations, and also let the parent(s) share theirs, as well as making sure the parent(s) ask all the questions they need.

  • Observing and documenting a child’s development helps early learning providers so that they know where the child is in development and growth and if the child knows the things that they should know at their age or if they need extra help. It also helps you to better understand the child, the way they do things and why.

Screen time can easily be negative but as long as if it is monitored and limited it can be positive

Naming something that a child wants or is using is an easy way to engage in serve and return.

I would sit down and talk with the parent. Ask why they are late again and explain to them that it can affect their child in a negative way. We can then figure something out to make sure this doesn’t continue happening.

WAC 110-300-0160 states that an early learning provider must provide culturally and racially diverse
    learning opportunities.

    WAC 110-300-0085 states that an
early learning provider must communicate with families to identify individual children’s developmental goals.

I think it is possible for us to change our views, but it could be hard and take time especially if those views were implanted in our brains for so long. Experiences and things you go through in life could cause someone to change their perspective.
