Some of the ways are: having a poster with some emotional figures and let the child point to them to describe how are they feeling on that moment, than the childcare provider, steps in, listen, talk about those feelings, explain by giving examples, show books about and try to teach some self control techniques such as breathing and going to a quite area and sit for a while.

If none of those options were affective, I would try some psychological help to help me deal with those situations in a better way.

This is one of my favorite part of being a child care provider. I love interact with them doing fun activities such as, pretending play ( restaurants, hospital), sing and dance along, I created a game called : “Quite game”, during lunch time, where children must be quite for 1 or 2 minutes…they love it, and for reward we give stickers and high fives. Hot potato is also a very popular one. Another game that I invented is called: Sharks and Snacks, we are at playground area, all the children line up and I ask them which snack they are going to be…I get answers like ( carrots, cake, spicy pizza…) them I say that I am a shark and I am hungry for snacks…so I Iet than run and I try to tag them ” eat my snack”. On a swing tire I play rock ship and every time I push them I pretend to point to a planet ( Mars, look the moon). I change themes…saying: Let’s go go the Zoo…n called animals, let’s go to Hawaii .

To create a healthy habits related to food, we can sing songs, I use the letter of the day and ask children to raise their hands if they brought any food with that letter, talk about the benefits of each food, I also do muscle check when they are done with their meal, and they absolutely love when I say it is growing because their are eating their food and making them stronger. Also, make sure they get hydrate.
To create good habits related to hygiene, make sure they wash their hands proprietary, tell them not put toys in their mouth because it can spread germs, remind them to cover their mouth while coughing, use a tissue when need and others…
To create healthy habits related their body, put some music, let them dance freely or engage them with some fun moves, make an obstacle curse during playground time, do natural walks…and much more.

MemberAugust 22, 2023 at 7:14 pm in reply to: Trainer Monitored Discussion – Discuss Safety ProceduresI would start with a very positive attitude and starting showing the most fun part, the classroom. I would point and describe the ( Art center, Library, Home Center, Block Center, etc…) I would show the classroom schedule as well. After I would do a tour around the facility, show staffs, bathroom, emergency exit and playground. In addition to that I would reinforce how important safety is for our school and tell her that we provide a code to get in and out and we must keep the door closed all the time.

Some or my worries are :
In the classroom: Aggressive child and bully.
Playground: Play structure and toys maintenance
School in General: Security, especially after those shootings.
For older kids, internet- safety and drugs.
In addition to that, for healthy , I am worry about what they eat and the ones that have severe allergies.

Addition to that, following a daily routine, use of materials that are appropriate, getting to know each children individuality and add as much cultural events as possible.
Ex : Morning songs saying Hello in different languages, show and tell about their culture, etc… Childcare providers must engage learning about our world, the things we have in common and the differences.

Get kids involved. I would start with meals first ( snack & lunch) and try to balance between quiet time than outside time/ group activity than free choice. So children don’t get bored. Using pictures with schedule routine can be helpful for younger ones, also have some back up activities, be flexible and reinforce that some to-dos are non negotiable like tidying up toys.
