I would keep a main schedule list and a separate list of activities that the kids could choose from so their days have some variety. Let them feel involved in choosing what they would like to do

the most important is being safe and feeling safe. a place where the kids are excited to go to everyday

I would prepare a script of what to say to the parents. Gather as much information/examples ready to show them. Then go over the ways the child has been struggling and discuss ways to improve and how we could help the child be better.

Observations and documentation of a child’s development can be used to identify the child’s strengths and any challenges they may have. With this knowledge, we can track a child’s learning progress over time and develop better understanding how to properly care for and teach them

I do not agree with having screen time for young children at school, unless its for educational purposes once in Elementary school. I think it’s the parents responsibility to monitor screen time at home. Child care settings are for learning, socializing and interacting with the care givers and other children

playing games, helping them set it up and break down the rules. help them keep focus and learn the game

I would meet with the parent and ask if there’s a certain reason why they are late. If it’s a problem that can be solved, I would sit with them and see if we can find a solution. Otherwise, remind the parent that pick up time should be followed. If the child knows the schedule by now, then they know when they should be picked up and it might cause some confusion and negative feelings if the late pick ups continue

What big messages do the WACs give regarding diversity and collaboration? When you show the children that you include them and their culture in the classroom, and that they are seen and acknowledged, it will make then feel involved and welcomed.

POINT OF VIEW: a thing that influences my thinking is experience. My mom and I moved to the US when I was 8 and I started school in 3rd grade.

I discovered how detailed the WAC’s were. This is my first time working professionally in child care and I found it to be very informative. With this being my first time, the WAC’s will be influencing my day to day practice in caring for children.
