Giving children the chance to fully feel their emotions is key, however it is important to remember the child of their safety and by displaying that there are other ways to release those strong emotions will be key to helping kids recognize and control their emotions.

I ensure that I am communicating how I am feeling to the coworkers around me while also reminding myself that the children are learning and growing and patience is vital to ensure the success of their growth even when it may feel hard.

I found that after work it is really important to separate my life from my life at work. This allows me to avoid thinking and dwelling about what happened at work once I get home. I have also found that working out is a great way to release my energy at the end of the day or even before work. This could involve running, going to the gym, walking or more. I also try to stimulate myself while I not working, such as taking a class, reading a book, or doing research.

My advice would be to install 1 on 1 time with you and each student in the classroom at least once a week. This 1 on 1 time will allow the children to build trust, comfort, and joy while working with their teacher.

My tips for creating a developmentally appropriate, fun, and physically active classroom include having work always out available to the children which is both stimulating and fun. Also, incorporating some sort of physical activity such as yoga for the kids in the middle of the day.

You can make healthy habits fun by not only telling the kids about how these healthy habits are good to help their bodies grow, but also telling them everything healthy habits will allow them to do. Such as, grow strong and tall to go on the monkey bars.

If I were giving a prospective parent a tour through the program I would make sure that during the tour I highlight our fire escape emergency plan, as well as our earthquake escape plan.

If I suspected child abuse or neglect I would contact CPS even if I suspect that injuries may be accidental because the safety of the child is most important. Also, by making a CPS report I must inform the parents as well.

My biggest worry about keeping children healthy and safe is when there are children within the class that risk the safety of other students.

If I was the parent of a young child the three things I would want my child’s provider to ensure is safety, a nurturing environment, and intellectually stimulating work.

Three fears I would have while leaving my child in someone’s care is the lack of safety, comfort, and stimulating work.

  • Some creative ways to get children in engaging and meaningful learning involve picking learning topics that you have found that children previously expressed interest in and also ensuring that the learning challenges the children as well.
