I would talk to the child by asking what happened. If it is serious that is related to child abuse, I would immediately report to the director to get CPS involved.

Safe environment, nurturing, have fun, interact with them

  • It is best to already have documentation from observation to show that you’ve been noticing differences from the beginning of the school year to the end of the year.

  • Observing and documenting a child’s development helps early learning providers through individualized planning, enhancing communication with families, decision-making, reflective practice, and supporting developmental goals. These topics help better prepare for their future education and communication needs in case the child is potentially deaf or hard of hearing at late age, has disability diagnosis, or any safety reasons such as abuse, drug abuse, alcohol-related.

What are your thoughts on screen time for children in childcare?

My thoughts on screen time for children in childcare are that children should only have screen time to listen to rhythms, songs, or factual information that the children should know. I personally don’t believe in watching television shows for younger kiddos because they do not gain any more education. Otherwise, if the show contains education, such as on their level, then I would let them watch or listen to one show per day.

  • Creating a “serve and return” environment in early learning classrooms is crucial because it can involve responsive interactions, language and communication, and play and exploration. It is not just the child doing but also the provider to provide all the new vocabulary surrounding them, such as reading aloud the book, labeling the toys, following the child’s lead, and discovering using materials that develop curiosity and exploration.

This can affect the child’s mood and develop trust and confusion. The child can sense the routine and changes in emotions if the parents do not pick up until later. Children have feelings and thoughts. Children can sense that there is a reason why the parents kept picking up so late frequently.
