Allowing the child to express his/her emotions is very important. Validating and listening can also be helpful by showing the child you understand how they feel. When they feel overwhelmed you can show them how to take deep breaths or how to find a quiet spot to read a book and have some alone time before rejoining their classmates.

It is important to have open communication with your coworkers about the way you are feeling. Sometimes it is good to take a step back and recharge so that you can better serve others around you.

Creating a safe and trusting relationship and environment with the children is so important. Helping them manage and regulate their emotions can teach them how to solve issues they are facing. Eye contact and good listening skills helps the child to feel heard and seen. Allowing children to solve problems on their own with your guidance can be so helpful when future conflicts arise.

I don’t think I have gotten to the point of stressed out with my job but if my lead is feeling stressed or overwhelmed in a situation then I will take over so she can relax and take some deep breaths. It is important to seek out support from others when you are in a moment of stress so that you can step away and do what you need to, to rejoin the class.

Quality time and recognition with each child and the work they are doing is so important. Getting on their level and making eye contact when they speak to you or vice versa is also important when creating a trusting connection with a child. Always treat each child with respect and kindness.

Yes, if an accident were to happen or illness, then having those guidance policies in place would be very helpful

Some ways to create a more fun, active classroom can be creating activities that allow children to move their bodies. We have cards at our school that have different positions like, standing on one foot, hopping in place, etc. and these can be great when we see that the children want to move their bodies and are getting restless.

You can make healthy habits fun by singing songs or making it a fun game. An example of this is, every time we need to brush our daughters teeth we sing, “Brush Brush Brush your teeth” and she loves it and will run to grab her toothbrush.

This is such a difficult situation to deal with. I always want what is best for the child. I would probably tell my superior about the situation and see what she thinks we should do.

My biggest worry about keeping children safe is definitely the possibility of a school shooting. There have been far too many shooting in past years and it is something that I think about on occasion. It is a scary world we live in where things like that could happen.

Constant communication is key and making sure to keep everything positive and respectful. Parents love to hear how their child is doing and so giving updates can be helpful.

I believe the best way to get children engaged is to allow them to choose what work interests them. Switching out the works can also help children not get bored of what they are working or playing with. This can be a great thing to do at home with your children by switching out their toys every two weeks. Not buying new toys, just rotating what toys they already have. Another way to help engage children is to introduce new work and teach a lesson on it before leaving it on the shelf for them to work on.

Simple is always best when creating and maintaining a daily schedule. Keep major things the same like mealtimes and nap times. Outdoor and indoor activities can be planned and adjusted depending on the elements. Allow the children to be involved in the daily routine as much as possible so that they feel like they are a part of the process.
