The best way to help children regulate their emotions is to name their emotions and why they might be feeling that way.

I would tell Early learning Providers who want to build connections with children in their classroom to find toys/activities that are engaging for the children. I would also do get-to-know-you activities.

  • I think childcare programs written guidance policies would be useful when dealing with unexpected emergencies with serious injuries.

For a two month old infant, you should use a single-level crib, infant bed, bassinet, or playpen. The mattress must be firm and snuggly touch each side of the crib or bed to prevent the infant from becoming entrapped between the mattress and crib side rails.

You can create a developmentally appropriate, fun, and physically active classroom by incorporating games, 60 minutes of structured and 60 minutes of unstructured physical activity every day, and taking an active role in outdoor play.

If you suspect child abuse or neglect, you must contact CPS if you even suspect that certain injuries or bruises may be accidental. You must contact CPS if you see signs of emotional or sexual abuse or physical neglect.

My biggest worry about keeping children safe is making sure to watch all of the children, especially if there are reactive children who might injure others.

If I were a parent of a young child, I would want my child’s provider to be a good communicator and problem solver. I would also want them to be nurturing and flexible to adapt to certain situation.

  • One of the ways that you can get children engaged in what they are learning is by getting to know them better and incorporate their interests in what they are learning. For example, if you have a child who really likes dinosaurs, you could find a math game that practices counting to 5 with dinosaurs.
