I think being engaged with each child and spending one on one time helps to build deeper connections.

I would first speak to my director and then report the abuse and make sure to keep documentation.

I believe communication is key, but you must remain non judgmental and be willing to listen and understand the families perspective.

If I was a parent of a young child, three things I would want most from my child’s provider is for them to 1. Ensure the safety of my child2. Make sure my child is learning and developing 3. Open communication about my child’s milestones and red flags Three fears I might have when leaving my child under someone else’s care is1. My child being neglected 2. My child being put in unsafe environment or situations3. Not meeting their emotional needs

  • I think one way would be to include sensory activities that keep the child actively engaged in the learning. This could be different tactiles. Then asking the child questions helps to keep their engagement.

I think it is important to recognize that screen time can bring benefits to learning but I do think that it should be done in moderation and only as a tool to enhance or reinforce things the child is already learning within the classroom in a hands on format.

Early learning providers can create a serve and return environment by being engaged with each child and asking questions on the items they are focusing on and paying attention to their play behavior.

    1. WAC 110-300-0085 addresses family collaboration and WAC-110-300-0030 addresses non-discrimination. 2. State law requires child care employees to honor and respect all children’s race, religion, culture, gender, physical ability and family structure, and to provide families with information on their child’s progress in the center.

What I discovered about the WACs was that they are not just a set of rules but a framework that creates a standard for early childhood teaching. These did not really surprise me as this level of detail is needed to help each day-to-day run the same under the correct standards and expectations.

I really like that you added that you involve the children in the planning process, I think that helps them to feel more in control of their learning which might influence them to be more excited about the next activity.

I completely agree with your response, I think it is important to first understand the parent or guardian’s situation and then turn the focus on the child and how the child is feeling. Then seeing what conclusion we are able to come to together.
