Be friendly, patient, understanding and professional. Emphasize that you want to support them and have their child’s best interest in mind. Never be judgmental!

The three things I would want most from the provider would be a safe environment, open communication, and support when needed.
The three fears I might have would be whether my child is safe or not, whether my child is getting the individual support they need, and whether my child, and the health of my child.

MemberSeptember 17, 2024 at 4:59 pm in reply to: How to approach a parent about developmental screening of their child?Being friendly and professional in the discussion, along with preparing materials and topics to touch on. Making sure you know exactly what needs to be discussed with support to back it up is important. It is also important to address it in a way that is supportive and with the child’s best interest at the forefront.

Observation allows teachers to gain insight on what works and what doesn’t for each individual and where additional support may be needed.

I don’t think young kids need screen time. While it may be a good break for the parent, the kids don’t need it in order to thrive and in some cases could hinder development.
