Advice I would give is to make sure that you are listening, playing and being active with your kids. Make sure you support kids who seem a little less willing to join in on group activities. Promote and support different cultures and activities.

I think most situations would be benefited from written policies. Such as reward systems, emergency and health policies, food policies, diaper changing policies and more. Its always good to be clear and having written policies lowers the chance for confusion of mistake.

An infant should only be sleeping in a crib, bassinet or play pen that has a fitted sheet and nothing else. The mattress should be firm and the crib should be safe from trapping the baby.

Tips for include, making a game or song out of the physical activity, make sure to join in on the physical activity, provide plenty of positive affirmation when the children are doing the activity and making sure to give children a choice in what they are doing.

You can make healthy habits fun by doing things like, making it a game, singing songs, making sure its a routine and praising kids who do the habits.

Procedures I would highlight are the general safe layout of the room and precautions we are using to prevent injury. I would go over our general routine for cleaning toys, tables, chairs, floors and other things that should be shiny clean! I would also show our access to first aid and other emergency and health related necessities

If I suspected child abuse, I would make sure to write down all my observations and information regarding the child and family involved. I would make sure to take the child aside and ask basic questions to have further details. Then I would call CPS to report the case.

My biggest worry with keeping children safe is trying to keep them safe when they are in situations out of our control such as when kids are in abusive homes or other dangerous scenarios outside of the class room. As while it is our duty to report, we cannot help in the moment and that’s a scary thought
