We could do a fun little guessing game about which herb is which. we could even bring in sample dishes that revolve around each herb too. For example, bring in a little pesto for basil.

I believe children up to the age of at least 5 have no reason for screentime during class. Any learning activity children aged up to 5 could do on a screen they could do without. I think as kids get older learning activities on the computer can be beneficial. They had us play math and writing/ reading games on the computer when I was in 3rd grade and up which made for very engaging learning sessions, so I think that counts for something. Not to mention shows like Bill Nye or Magic School Bus which were also very fun and engaging learning opportunities. However, I don’t think children should rely on digital stimulation to engage in learning. I generally think young children should spend as little time on electronics as possible. Older kids using electronics in class for learning reasons is fine in moderation.

For example, if a kid shows excitement in a ladybug they find, I’ll respond by being just as excited and then ask them what they think the lady bugs intentions are or what they find most fascinating about ladybugs.

I would then ask for the primary reason regarding the late arrivals and begin working on providing the parent with a support system(s), plan(s) and options on how we can work to get the child home in a timely and stable manner.

1. i found out much about the history origins of the different parts of WAC
2. i was surprised to find that it is required that children practice passing serving bowls during mealtime and serving themselves.
3. it would influence me by providing specific guidelines to follow at all times through big and minor tasks.
