The most important thing is to have a classroom appropriate for the age of the children you are going to have, and for that you have to inform yourself, investigate, take different ideas and adapt them for each space with the resources for the age of each child.

To a future father I would highlight all the security requirements that are met at the center, and as the tour progresses I will show him in each area the measures that are taken to make each area safe, and I would end by letting the father express your doubts in each area so that you are calmer with the safety procedures that are in place at the center.

I will tell my supervisor and between the two of us we will make the respective report to the help line and from there Social Services will carry out the relevant investigations to determine if it is abuse or neglect.

My biggest concern is that no matter how prepared and trained I am, I will be presented with a situation that is beyond my knowledge and I will not be able to keep the children healthy and safe.

I think the best advice is to maintain good communication, we as professionals can understand the situation with the parents and we can guide the meeting, but the important thing is to listen to the parents, hope that they can express all their doubts and what they have to say beforehand. To respond to them, many times their non-verbal language wants to tell us something else, and in this way we can understand the parents a little more and be able to provide them with the help they need.

If you were a parent of a young child, what do you think would be the top 3 things you would want from your child’s provider?

    – Be a person who gives love and attention to my son.

    – That she is suitable and qualified to carry out the work.

    – That it is someone who cares about the proper development of my child, that it is the person with whom I can consult the achieved development of my child.

  • Among the creative ways to get children to participate is that as a caregiver I must know each child, since each child is motivated by different things, and for that I must have different activities available so that the children can choose the activity with which they but they feel identified or comfortable, in this way they can begin to rotate through the different spaces of the classroom as their interest begins to grow.

Even though you have a schedule, you should also have an open mind to make adjustments to the different activities depending on the development of the children. It is important to follow a schedule, but you can also adjust it if you notice that it is not being useful or not, it is following the necessary patterns to meet development standards.

The important thing is that children feel comfortable and safe in the place where they are so that they can begin to enjoy all the areas that are prepared and ready for them to work. If they can feel welcomed, they will be able to fully enjoy each activity that is stimulating them to continue learning.

  • When we approach by collecting evidence, not improvising, but comparing with milestones, without making judgments, just issuing facts and comparing with the evaluation we have of the children.

  • How does it help early learning providers to observe and document a child’s development? Help to be able to make better decisions regarding adaptations of work plans, where you can identify if children need help with carrying out some activities and what measures can be implemented to help them.

According to studies, it has been shown that during the first two years of life, children should not be subjected to any type of screen exposure; after that age, limited use could be considered for educational purposes.
