I work with younger toddlers. We do some breathing exercises. I help them name how they feel because they don’t have the words for it. I point out when they are able to self-regulated.

I remind myself that I am working with kids. I get frustrated and say it feel like I’m working with kid and then I realize that I am working with kids. It helps when we can take a step back and get perspective.

I make sure that even when I am busy that I explain to the children what I am doing and that I will pay attention to them as soon as I am done. I also make sure to interact with each child everyday and tell them that I see them. Then I also make sure that when a child wants held or hugs that I only pay attention to them.

I am luck to live close to my center. I am able to go home for my lunch break and be in a different mental headspace for about an hour before I head back. I have found this helps give me the break that I need in the day.

I would advise to spend time listening and interacting with the child. There would also be times of special interactions where you are focused just on the child. I know that some of the kids who feel stressed in my program just want to have hugs.

They are very useful. In terms of accepting children who are sick or have fever for the day. Or when they can come back to the center after they are clear from sickness.

A single level crib or a play pen.

We try to sing songs that have lots of motions. We also play games where we roll a dice and do the action that is written. We also run races.

We make healthy habits into a game to make it fun. We also sing songs about the things we should be doing like washing our hands and brushing teeth.

I would highlight our emergency plan which is outside each classroom door. I would also point out the first aid kits and emergency exits in each room.

In my center we have been told to report our suspicions to our director first and she will be the one who reports to CPS.

My biggest concern about keeping children safe is not being able to control everything that happens in the classroom. There are other children who may hit or kick and sometimes kids are just walking and fall down.

Define the problem, suggest solutions, make an action plan that both the teachers and the parents agree to and evaluate and reevaluate as needed.

The three things I would want from my child’s provider would be that they care for my child, that they are concerned about my child’s development, and that they are aware of my child’s interests.

Get to know the child and see what they like. In my classroom there are many children who like cars so we choose activities that incorporate cars as much as possible. Such as painting with car wheels and giving the cars a bath with water play.

Plan around the meal times. Those times do not change, in a center it is important to schedule outdoor times and restroom time with the rest of the classrooms. A good schedule is class management. I think that it’s really important to have good sight lines. It is also important that the kids feel comfortable and that they have access to all the toys.

Our center has regular developmental screenings every quarter so parents are aware that it is happening. If I had to talk to a parent about their child’s development I would make sure to have everything scripted and planned out and especially explain that delays are the end of the world.

Observing and documenting development helps identify areas where the child may need more help or help identify red flags. It also helps if these observations are in portfolios as the child moves into a new classroom as they age and grow so that the new teacher can know where the child is developmentally.

I use screens at home to make dinner and do dishes with little interruption. However in the childcare setting I should be focused on the children and the activities I have prepared for them. I have used screens with older children to find and read books on YouTube however.

Paying attention to what the children like and are focused on. In our classroom we have children that are in the name it phase with everything especially each others names. We play a name game that includes different levels of development where they either point or say the name themselves.

I can see how it will influence my day because it helps me to know how to deal with everyday situations in the classroom. For example the training requirements mean that I have trainings on how to deal with blood and bodily fluids. It means that I don’t question how I am going to deal with it when it happens. I already know.
